You’ll know that you miss someone very much when every

Ada dua orang yang mengadakan perjalanan bersama. Mereka membawa seekor keledai untuk mengangkut barang-barang mereka, sebuah obor untuk menerangi jalan di waktu malam, dan seekor ayam, yang merupakan teman keledai itu. Ayam itu duduk di kepala keledai sepanjang perjalanan.

Salah seorang di antaranya sangat saleh, sedangkan seorang yang lainnya tidak percaya pada Tuhan. Sepanjang jalan mereka sering berbincang-bincang tentang Tuhan. "Tuhan itu sangat baik," kata orang yang pertama. "Kita akan lihat jika pendapatmu itu bisa bertahan dalam perjalanan ini," kata orang yang kedua.

Menjelang petang, mereka tiba di sebuah desa kecil, dan mereka mencari tempat bermalam. Meskipun mereka sudah mencari kesana kemari, tapi tidak seorang pun menerima mereka. Dengan berat hati mereka meneruskan perjalanan sampai keluar kota itu, dan mereka memutuskan tidur di sana.

"Saya pikir kamu tadi bilang bahwa Tuhan itu baik," kata orang kedua dengan sinis."Tuhan telah memutuskan bahwa di sinilah tempat bermalam kita yang terbaik," jawab temannya.

Mereka memasang tempat tidur mereka di bawah sebuah pohon yang besar, di samping jalan menuju ke desa tadi, lalu mengikat keledai mereka lima meter dari tempat tidur mereka. Ketika mereka mau menyalakan obor, tiba-tiba terdengar suara gaduh. Seekor singa menerkam keledai mereka hingga mati dan menyeretnya untuk dimakan. Dengan segera kedua orang itu memanjat pohon agar selamat.

"Kamu masih bilang bahwa Tuhan itu baik?" kata orang yang kedua dengan marah."Jika singa itu tidak menerkam keledai kita, ia tentunya menyerang kita. Tuhan memang baik," jawab orang yang pertama.

Beberapa saat kemudian terdengar jeritan ayam mereka. Dari atas pohon, mereka bisa melihat bahwa seekor kucing liar telah menerkam ayam mereka dan menyeretnya ke sana kemari. Sebelum orang kedua sempat berkata sesuatu, orang yang pertama mengatakan, "Jeritan ayam itu sekali lagi menyelamatkan kita. Tuhan itu baik. "

Beberapa menit kemudian hembusan angin kencang memadamkan obor mereka, yang merupakan satu-satunya penghangat badan mereka di malam yang kelam itu. Sekali lagi orang yang kedua mengejek temannya. Seandainya kita bermalam di desa ini, maka kita pasti sudah dirampok bersama seluruh desa ini. Seandainya angin tidak memadamkan obor kita, maka para perampok itu, ang pasti melewati jalan di dekat tempat kita tidur, akan melihat kita dan merampok barang-barang kita. Jelas, Tuhan itu baik."

Ia membuat segala sesuatu indah pada waktunya, bahkan Ia memberikan kekekalan dalam hati mereka. Tetapi manusia tidak dapat menyelami pekerjaan yang dilakukan Allah dari awal sampai akhir.

Diberkatilah orang yang mengandalkan TUHAN, yang menaruh harapannya pada TUHAN!
